ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING FOR THE WHOLE COMPANY

An Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System with a fully integrated Contact Relationship Management (CRM) system and a fully integrated document imaging system should be used by EVERYBODY within the organization.

That is why it is called an “enterprise” system!

This new way of thinking about ERP systems is different than old accounting systems, where a limited number of people use the system and then prepare reports for others after it’s too late to do anything about issues. Everybody in your organization needs to be interfacing with the ERP on a real-time basis wherever they are.

When you license ERP software, you should be getting an enterprise-wide license for the entire system. Individual licenses or named users are a remnant of the 1990s. If the system(s) you are looking at don’t offer this kind of license, they’re probably not designed to be used by everyone in the organization.

Everyday, ERP systems are getting used by more and more people throughout the organization. Don’t put yourself in a situation where you are going to get nickeled and dimed every time you hire a new employee or expand the use of the system. Negotiate an enterprise license right from the beginning.
